Toxicologists
ToxWiz provides Toxicologists with a route to understanding mechanisms of compound toxicity

Toxicologists need to assess the potential toxic side effects of candidate compounds and to ensure the correct interpretation of in vitro, in vivo, or toxicogenomics results.

ToxWiz enables you to understand on- and off- target mechanisms of action of candidate and related compounds, and therefore ellucidate how different chemicals produce toxic side effects. It also enables you to see known and predicted effects of compounds across multiple species in both chemical and biochemical space.

One can also investigate sets of genes, proteins or chemicals identified by toxicogenomics, proteomics or metabolomics experiments. Our unique ranking system allows one to tease out weak signals to predict affected pathways, or possible toxic endpoints within sets containing hundreds or even thousands of affected molecules. A few clicks and one can also see the molecular reasons for why each prediction is made.

Some features benefiting the toxicologist are:
  • our large database of manually curated data from textual databases
  • a focus on pathways known to be involved in toxic endpoints or pathologies
  • the ability to compare results between ten different tox-relevant species
  • thousands of known chemical/protein interactions relevant to toxicology, including known ligands, substrates, products, inducers & supressors of all major drug metabolising enzymes, and nuclear hormone receptors
  • the ability to handle large sets of genes, proteins or chemicals and use these to predict toxic-endpoints or affected pathways
