Dr Robert Russell, Chairman
A group leader in bioinformatics at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) working on protein interaction networks, Dr Russell has recently published outstanding papers on structural aspects of protein-protein interactions. Prior to moving to EMBL, Dr Russell was a senior scientist at SmithKline Beecham Research & Development in Harlow, UK. This brings experience of the needs of industrial drug companies.
Dr Alvis Brazma
A team leader for DNA microarray informatics at the European Bioinformatics Institute, Hinxton, Cambridge, Dr Brazma is the founder of the Consortium for Standardisation of Micro-array Gene Expression Data. He leads a 30-strong team which is the only centre in Europe collating publicly available global data from DNA microarray research.
Dr Wolfgang Huber
Group Leader for Bioinformatics at the European Bioinformatics Institute. Previously Dr Huber was leading a reserch group for Molecular Genome Analysis at the German Cancer Research Institute Heidelberg (DKFZ), and is the author of what is regarded as currently the most powerful algorithm for statistical analysis of DNA microarray data.
Dr Luis Serrano
Dr Serrano is director of the Systems Biology Research Unit at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) in Barcelona. Prior to this he was Programme Coordinator for Structural & Computational Biology at EMBL Heidelberg. Dr Serrano is an expert in modelling and designing proteins and cellular systems. He has founded three biotechnology companies in Germany, Spain and the USA, which are involved in different drug discovery technologies.
